It was first used in the New York apartment of Philip Johnson for which it was probably designed. However, it made its first public appareance at the Berlin Building Exposition of 1931 (Berlin Bau-Austellung) in the model bachelor's apartment. The strap and cushion details are similar to those of the "Barcelona Chair". This cushion detailing was probably a contribution of Lilly Reich.
Couch with frame in solid wood painted in walnut or black; legs in chrome-plated tubular steel. Mattress and headrest in leather or alcantara, suspended on leather belts.
