The modernized version of the traditional British officer’s chair by Le Corbusier made its initial appearance in a different version with tapered arm straps and cushions at the Villa Church, Ville d’Avray (see model CLA 225). Although this present version was only recently introduced in 1959 by Heidi Weber of Zurich, it has become the best known. Mrs.Weber, working directly with Le Corbusier, adapted the models of 1929 producing them industrially from 1959 till 1964. Examples of the Weber production are very much sought after by collectors and museums. They are included in the permanent collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art and represent the last production personally supervised by Le Corbusier.
