This chair is usually incorrectly attributed to Le Corbusier. Actually, it was designed by Charlotte Perriand before her arrival in Le Corbusier‘s studio. However, she contributed it for inclusion in Le Corbusier’s program of “domestic equipment. “The catalogue prepared by Thonet in 1929 to present the domestic equipment program places the names of Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand on the cover without distinguishing the authorship of the single models. Later, when these models were included in the larger Thonet-Germany catalogue along with the models of other designers, the three names which were on the cover of the French catalogue were printed along side each of the individual models without distinction. Hence all of the models, including this siège tournant, were attributed to Le Corbusier, Jeanneret and Perriand without distinction, creating the incorrect impression that all of these models were the work of three co-authors.
